PATRIOTS EXPECTED TO SIGN ADALIUS THOMAS AND KYLE BRADY

March 2, 2007

This is just in from Adam Schefter at NFL.COM

The Patriots are expected to sign free agents Adalius Thomas and Kyle Brady.

The bigger name is Thomas, as he will be a force in the league for years to come.  If the Patriots complete this deal, our team will already be better than they were last year.

Thomas will visit Gillette Stadium tomorrow to take a physical.  If he passes (which he most definately will), the deal will most likely be finalized.

Rumors: Patriots Express Interest in Adalius Thomas & Day 1 Free Agent Visits

March 2, 2007

According to ESPN.com, the Patriots have expressed official interest in Adalius Thomas.  He’s widely considered the years top free agent, and signing him would mean big things for the Pats defense.

Also, on day 1, the Patriots hosted visits to TE Kyle Brady and RB Sammy Morris.  The visit of Brady likely shows that Daniel Graham is done with the Patriots (he actually took a visit to Denver today).  The Patriots actually tried to get Sammy Morris a couple of years ago, but he ended up signing with the ‘Fins.  He is a bruising back who can help fill the need left by the departure of Clock Killin’ Corey Dillon (it’s official, he’s gone).

Rumors: Some Possible Patriots’ Free Agent Targets – Wide Receivers & Linebackers

March 2, 2007

I will try to do a couple of positions a day.  I’ll start with the Patriots two biggest holes, wide receivers and linebackers.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Donte Stallworth – reportedly, the Patriots are already trying to get him down for a visit.  He’s most interested in the Patriots, and he didn’t resign with the Eagles…  Stallworth would be a great fit for the Pats.

Eric Moulds - For unexplained reasons, it just didn’t work out with him and the Texans.  He was targeted last offseason by the Pats, but it just didn’t work out.  If he’s still got some gas left in the tank, this might be a great fit.

Joe Horn – Horn was released by the Saints yesterday after he refused to take a pay cut.  If Troy Brown exits the game, Joe Horn may be the type of savvy veteran receiver the Patriots need.

Linebackers

Adalius Thomas – Heading into his eighth year, Thomas may be the #1 free agent prospect in the entire NFL.  Adalius is a great passrusher (11 sacks last year), is very versatile, and is a perfect fit for Belichick’s 3-4 defense.  We just have to see if the financial numbers would work out.

Cato June – He’s fast, strong, and a great outside linebacker.  However, I don’t think he would work too well in the Patriots 3-4 system.  Although it would be exciting to get a player of his caliber, I just don’t see it happening.

Joey Porter – Joey Porter was released by the Steelers yesterday, probably because of financial reasons.  That being said, I think Porter is the best fit for the Patriots out of these prospects.  Proof?  Mike Vrabel.  He came out of the same system as Porter, which means Belichick better be calling Porter’s agent immediately.

Why Hasn’t Corey Dillon Been Released Yet

March 2, 2007

Just thought I’d point this out.  Corey Dillon was supposed to be released yesterday, and as of around 3:00 pm today, he is yet to be released.  Just a thought.
