Andre Smith Visited Pats Today

Alabama offensive tackle Andre Smith visited the Patriots today, according to a Mike Reiss report.

Smith, once projected to go as high as first overall, has been slipping down draft boards since the end of the college football season due to issues with his weight, a disappearing act at the combine, and a suspect work ethic.

However, when you go back to the tapes, there is no question he is an elite talent, both as a run and pass blocker.  In my opinion, the Patriots see Smith as a possible slider, and want to evaluate him as a player and as a character to determine if they would take him at 23 if he somehow fell that far.

Nah. He’s probably going to the Bengal’s as the oth pick overall. His character fits perfectly in the culture they are breeding up there in Cincy.

Who knows if Cincy doesn’t take him and he does fall that much; the Pats do have a history of turning players around. They were all vets though.

If he were to fall to 23, by all means let’s grab him. Personally, I don’t think there is a player that the Pats move up to get in the first round, but that’s just me.
